A year of contrasting climatic periods. A very dry winter preceded an uneven spring that brought heavy rain and cool temperatures in April, when the first leaves appeared, and then put the vines back on a dry diet in May and especially June, with temperatures well above normal.

Vintage 1994
The white wines are smooth and intense, with good ageing potential. The red wines, produced later in the season, are full-bodied and fruity. They have fine, dense tannins, a clean colour and a harmonious, complex palate. Chateauneuf du Pape red and white wines from the 1994 vintage fall into the category of great vintages in terms of quality.
