Châteauneuf du Pape red and white vintage 2002 : a vintage of heat and drought, reached maturity, rainy harvests.
The white wines of Châteauneuf du Pape vintage 2002 presented a dominance of citrus and white fruits (pear) on their youth, with a powerful mouth on fat and freshness. Once fully ripe, they now offer a delicate bouquet with a predominant yellow lemon and dried fruit, with a hint of fresh nuts, witnessing their evolution. The palate is elegant and delicate, always fresh with some notes of fine oxidation mixed with citrus notes that give complexity and elegance to the persistence. A gastronomic wine, to be combined with dishes in cream sauce or finely seasoned mushrooms, whether fish or white meats.
The red wines of Châteauneuf du Pape vintage 2002 had notes of overripe Grenache from their first years. The drought and very high summer temperatures gave aromas of cherry liquor and cocoa accompanied by notes of menthol and wood strawberries.
The palate and persistence on the tannins are witnesses of a phenolic concentration that allowed a beautiful evolution. Presenting a garnet colour and a finely full-bodied bouquet on the fruit with spirit, and the patinated leather, the mouth and persistence are structured by the refined tannins and a hint of freshness, on the fruit cocoa and a hint of leather. The small feathered game in sauce will be interesting companions.
