Year with contrasting climatic periods. A very dry winter preceded a saw-toothed spring that concentrated heavy rainfall and cool temperatures in April, when the first leaves appeared, and then returned the vines to dry conditions in May and especially in June, with temperatures well above normal.

July remained very hot (+2.5°C/averages) with a return to normal in August. The veraison was therefore quite early and the harvest ban was lifted on September 15.

After a rainy start for one night, the Mistral wind blew for almost 2 weeks. The sanitary state of the grapes, which was excellent at the beginning of September, was thus preserved and the quality of the sugar concentration improved. The Mistral wind has always been an essential factor in the quality and protection of the Chateauneuf du Pape vineyard.

The beautiful maturity of the harvest produced structured wines, especially on the Red Grenache for which the winemakers waited the slight over-maturity caused by the dry and windy weather (Mistral) so characteristic of our Appellation Chateauneuf du Pape but also of the other wines of the Rhone Valley.

These red and white wines have all the characteristics of a good vintage of Chateauneuf du Pape, suitable for keeping and tasting after almost 3 decades.
