Vintage 2001

A very great age potential: between 30 and 40 years old; a vintage at the level of 1978, 1989, 1990 and 1998.

Exceptional maturities have given the Chateauneuf du Pape white and red 2001 vintage a lot of aromatic richness and structure in their youth. Marked aromas on white and yellow stone fruits accompanied by menthol notes for whites. Typical aromas of Grenache overripe for the reds (black cherry jam, prunes).

We have now reached a very important stage in their evolution (2022) for both the red wines of Chateauneuf du Pape and the white wines of Chateauneuf du Pape. They combine aromas of maturity and structures (freshness and tannins) always on the youth that make them particularly interesting to taste.

The reds have beautiful aromas of roasting, pepper and cocoa that highlight cherries and prunes in the spirit, patinated leather and spices. The mouthfeel remains very fresh and structured with elegant and numerous tannins. The palate offers rich aromas of jammed red and black fruits, notes of cocoa and truffle. The finish is long and fresh, on truffle, jammed fruits and cocoa, supported by remarkable tannins of finesse and caressing intensity. Another beautiful year in the cellar but already very delicious.

Whites will be more marked by maturity. Notes of candied yellow fruits with sweet spices, citrus fruits with candied sugar and dried fruits (nuts and hazelnuts) mark this blossoming bouquet. The mouthfeel is lively, with citrus aromas and a light touch of fresh nutty, then the heart opens on candied fruits and citrus and sweet spices. The finish will always be long on the freshness and candies notes.
