The Chateauneuf du Pape 1996 vintage faced a complicated weather, saved by the strong wind called "le Mistral" of the first fifteen days of September. The maturities were thus able to be completed under good conditions. The harvest was carried out as the grapes matured on healthy plots.
The 1996 Chateauneuf du Pape white wines were originally fresh and floral, with light colors, fruit and body.
They have become very nicely rounded and full-bodied and now offer all the delights that lovers of great white wines for ageing can hope for: finesse, nuances of dried fruit and candied fruit and always a lot of freshness on an elegant finish.
The red wines of Chateauneuf du Pape vintage 1996 started on the fruit and the roasting, the velvet and the intensity. They now develop complex notes mixing garrigue, undergrowth and cherry brandy and cocoa. Well-melted and solid tannins, homogeneous from the start, offer now a mouth of a remarkable length and smoothness.
