Formerly known as “White Wine of Côte-Rôtie,” Condrieu comes from the borders of the Ardèche, Rhône, and Loire departments, on the right bank of the Rhône, near Vienne.
Its vineyard, like that of Côte-Rôtie, is characterized by extremely steep slopes—reaching nearly 50 degrees—which make vine cultivation particularly hazardous. Condrieu is the birthplace of the Viognier grape variety, which stands out as the sole grape used in this appellation.
