In the XVIIth Century, Roquemaure was indeed a famous production place, protective of the quality of its wines and forbidding to mix its own wines with others coming from outer vineyards. In the XVIIIth Century the wooden caskets containing wines Of Roquemaure, Lirac, Tavel, Chusclan and Orsan were branded with the letters “CDR” (Côtes du Rhône), as to guarantee their origin and quality.
