Winemaker Day - May 14, 2026

A day to celebrate 1936–2026. On May 15, 1936, Châteauneuf-du-Pape became France's first appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC), marking a decisive moment in the history of French viticulture.

Ninety years later, this anniversary is an invitation to remember, understand, and savor what makes this terroir unique in the world.

Château de la Gardine, owned by the Brunel family for several generations, is opening its doors on the eve of this historic date, Thursday, May 14, Ascension Day. A day in the open air, friendly and accessible to all—discerning wine lovers, families, and the curious—to experience the estate in a different way, during a well-deserved holiday.

On the agenda

Distillation — centuries-old expertise live

This is one of the highlights of the day, featuring a mobile still built in 1920. Throughout the day, there will be a lively demonstration of distillation with commentary. Wood fires, steam boilers, copper patinated by time: you will witness every stage of the process, from technical explanations to manufacturing secrets, in an atmosphere redolent of the craftsmanship of yesteryear. An authentic, rare spectacle, as fascinating for adults as it is for younger visitors.

Outdoor tasting

Throughout the day, the Château de la Gardine team invites you to discover or rediscover its vintages in a relaxed and friendly setting. Our wines will be presented to you by the estate team and winemakers. We will be there to chat, answer your questions, and share our passion, taking the time necessary to explain the blends, terroirs, and winemaking choices. There's no formality here—just the pleasure of sharing and passing on our knowledge.

Private sale with a 10% discount

This is your chance to stock up your wine cellar or give someone a meaningful gift. A selection of wines from the estate will be available for purchase on site, with an exceptional 10% discount.

What makes our day unique:  Take advantage of this holiday for a memorable wine tourism experience, alone, with family, or with friends!
