Thanks to a very hot and dry spring, the red wines of Chateauneuf du Pape vintage 2010 were fresh, fruity and structured. They took a more austere aspect to their youth than in previous years. Their aromas of almost raw fruits and their strong tannins required to be developed over a decade or so.
They now display a range of characteristics that combine the vivacity and strength of youth with the nuances of evolution. The solidity of their tannic structure balanced by their freshness highlights the typical aromas of the bottle aging such as candied red and black fruits, notes of flavours and candied olives and patinated leather.
The finish is long and fresh, on smooth tannins, patinated leather and candied fruits. They can without fear be kept for another ten years or tasted now, according to the preferences of the guests.
Grilled red meats accompanied by sauces with spices and red fruits, but also stewed dishes of meats and vegetables cooked at low temperature with beautiful aromas or aged cheeses.
