A year of contrasting climatic periods. A very dry winter preceded a rollercoaster spring that brought heavy rain and cool temperatures in April, when the first leaves appeared, and then put the vines back on a dry diet in May and especially June, with temperatures well above normal.

July remained very hot (+2.5°C/average) with a return to normal in August. As a result, the grapes ripened quite early and the harvest began on 15 September.

After a rainy start for one night, the Mistral wind blew for almost 2 weeks. The health of the grapes, which was excellent at the beginning of September, was thus preserved and the quality of the sugar concentration improved. The Mistral has always been an essential factor in the quality and protection of the Chateauneuf du Pape vineyards.

The fine ripeness of the harvest produced fleshy, well-structured wines, especially the red Grenache, for which the winegrowers waited for the slight over-ripening brought on by the dry, windy weather (Mistral) so characteristic of our Chateauneuf du Pape Appellation, but also of the other wines of the Crus des Cotes du Rhone.

These red and white wines have all the characteristics of a good vintage of Chateauneuf du Pape, suitable for laying down and drinking after 27 years.
