Early vegetation throughout the year, slowed somewhat by a cold start to April.
A normal spring in terms of rainfall and temperature was followed by an exceptionally hot summer. This heatwave was cushioned by a fine rainfall on 31 July, which helped to withstand the drought and facilitate good ripening of the grapes.
By the end of August, the grapes had reached near-perfect ripeness and health, and the first plots of Grenache Blanc and Syrah were harvested a record early, on 29 August, even though harvesting was scheduled for 5 September.
The weather took a turn for the better in mid-September, but the quantities produced that year were fairly low: 30hl/ha on average. Almost all the grapes were picked on time.
The white wines are smooth and intense, with good ageing potential. The red wines, produced later in the season, are full-bodied and fruity. They have fine, dense tannins, a clean colour and a harmonious, complex palate.
