Chateauneuf du Pape rouge et blanc 2004, a very qualitative vintage due to its small yields and its freshness.

The Chateauneuf du Pape vintage 2004 saw a return to normal temperatures but a sunshine that remained much higher at the beginning of the vegetative period. The bud hatching and flowering were about ten days early. After a period of water stress, the heavy rains in August boosted the ripening process. A large number of cool nights preserved the acidity and promoted the concentration of colour and excellent ripeness, completed by a dry and windy September.

The white wines of Chateauneuf du Pape vintage 2004 were lively and fresh in their youth while having the breadth and complexity characteristic of the whites of the appellation. They now have notes of honey, dried fruit and precious wood, supported by a fresh and round persistence. Cooked poultry and fish, aged cheeses will be their allies on the table.

The red wines of Chateauneuf du Pape vintage 2004 were very colourful and carried aromas of berries and fresh red blacks, notes of liquorice, undergrowth and spices and some jam notes. The excellent phenolic maturity and the exceptional freshness of this vintage have allowed an evolution all in elegance and finesse, where notes of cherry and plum and wood accompany a still fresh mouth with full and nuanced aromas.

The 2004 vintage of Chateauneuf du pape rouge is now to be enjoyed with meat-based dishes in red fruit sauce.
