The « Cuvées des Générations »
Since the 80’s and because of a rigorous parcel selection, the Brunels produce two signature cuvées in honour of the older generations. Produced with carefully sorted grapes grown on low yielding old vines (70-100 years old), these two prestigious cuvées are fully aged in new oak barrel every year.
Générations Marie-Léoncie
This very iconic cuvée is produced with grapes of our oldest Roussanne vines parcels. The wine is fully oak aged on its fine lees for 9 months. As for a red Châteauneuf du Pape, the « Marie-Léoncie » has a great ageing potential (can be kept for more than 20 years).
When young, the wine is well balanced, lively, floral, displaying buttery, fleshy and stone fruit aromas. With some time, it’s getting smoother, revealing nutty, balsamic and light spices notes. The finish is impressively long and persistent.
Générations Gaston-Philippe
With an intense dark purple colour and strong black fruits, light spices and vanilla aromas, this cuvée is produced in a very concentrated and extracted style. Fully aged in new oak barrel, the « Gaston Philippe » is displaying elegant oaky aromas which are melting after a few years in the bottle. This cuvée being mouth coating and soft textured, has a particularly long finish mixing freshness and velvety tannins in a full bodied style, infallible sign of a very long ageing potential.
