1991 is a particularly good illustration of the influence of the weather on the vineyard and the effect of the vintage, which is the unique combination of terroir and climate.
Delayed vegetation, threats of frost from which the mistral preserved us, important coulure on the Grenaches, volumes were reduced from the start. An unfavourable rainfall regime and a very hot summer did not make up for the delay in vegetation and maturity.
The harvest started 10 days late in 1990. White grape varieties, as well as Syrah and Mourvèdres gave excellent results in contrast to Grenache, which required very strict sorting on already reduced quantities.
In addition to being very low in yield (between 20 hl/ha and 25 hl/ha), this atypical vintage benefits from a rather exceptional acidity for whites and reds, favoured by the lower proportion of Grenache that makes it up.
The taster benefits from a natural tannic extraction of Syrah and Mourvèdres and a remarkable finesse that have ensured an evolution all in elegance and nuances for a complete and immediate pleasure.
