"The 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Des Générations Marie-Léoncie Blanc is Roussanne- dominated and is based on 95% Roussanne and 5% Clairette raised in new barrels. It brings another level of intensity and concentration, with ripe stone fruits, minty flowers, honeyed orange, and toasted bread notes all soaring from the glass. This flat-out awesome white is medium to full-bodied, has a broad, layered mouthfeel, a beautiful mix of richness and freshness, and a great finish. You could safely put this up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. There are just 500 cases produced, and while I would lean toward drinking bottles over the coming 4-6 years, I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it have an interesting evolution beyond that as well."

Old vines Roussanne. Gold, complex, intense...
Nose : notes of mango and poached pear.
Palate : vanilla custard, brioche and salty minerality as well as a beautifully rich texture.
Advice from the sommelier : Best served at 14-16°C to get the full expression of the complex aromas. To be paired with Patrick's scrambled eggs with truffles ("brouillade")...
Grape varieties : 100% Roussanne
Harvest : Early harvest (usually before September 15th) to preserve maximum freshness. 100% hand harvest into small baskets.
Terroir : Age of the vines: 60+ years The white vines are mostly on Urgonian limestones located on the Western side of the estate. This provides wines with excellent minerality. Exposure: Mostly South-West Altitude: 40-100 meters
Winemaking : The grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press right after the harvest. After cold settling, the Roussanne ferments in 225 liters oak barrels. The wine then ages in new oak barrels with regular stirring and racking. There is no malolactic fermentation and the wine is slightly filtered before bottling.
Potential of ageing : Perfect to drink now, but can be kept 5 to 10 years for an evolution towards some even more roundness and fattiness and some gingerbread and mushroom aromas.
