Our Châteauneuf du Pape vintage 1952, made in those days by Gaston Brunel, scored a stunning 92/100 in the Wine Advocate.
"Tasted at The Grenache Symposium, this pure Grenache Châteauneuf du Pape is a pure delight. From vines over century old and aged for three years in cask, it has a mature mahogany core. The nose is astoundingly vibrant and... joyful! Singed leather and orange peel, developing gamey notes with time. The palate is medium-bodied, a little smudged and rustic, but well balanced with leather, sandalwood, smoke and a touch of white pepper. Amazingly vivacious and light on its feet, this is just wonderful. Drink now. Tasted June 2010."
